It’s been a difficult year for everyone, but artists and students in particular have taken a huge hit to their ability to work. Our Your Space Or Mine project has taken on new importance for us this year, and for our latest collaboration, we teamed up with the University of Westminster to support their photography graduates by showcasing their work at two sites in Stepney Green and Dalston Junction. As the students were unable to show off their hard work at an end of year show as they would in previous years, we wanted to offer an inspiring alternative, bringing their work to the eyes of an even bigger audience.

Amplifying the work of 24 talented students total, the site will be up for two weeks, featuring awe-inspiring photographs of the people, nature and environments that have inspired the students in an incredibly difficult year. Andre Pinkowski, a senior lecturer at the uni, said, “We are very pleased to collaborate with Buildhollywood this year to showcase the work by our recent graduates from the BA Photography at University of Westminster. Photography has the capacity to provide an experience that transcends a trajectory towards narrowly defined professions.

Andre added: “The placement within the community and displaying the work on busy high streets and next to busy tube stations allows the viewer to absorb and study the work; to dwell on it. The work will thrill and challenge.” He emphasises the importance of collaboration in difficult times, and we agree. These bold pieces show just what is possible even in restricted conditions when you’re motivated, inspired, and willing to work together and think a little differently.
