When Dimensions Festival approached us with the idea of displaying the work of an up and coming artist in an unconventional space – we instinctively knew that the location that best fit this project was our 20 foot billboard on Old Street, East London.

The initiative to find the artist was a collaborative effort between Dimensions Festival and innovative design non-profit D&AD. Applicants were briefed to take a less traditional approach to billboard advertising using the festival and all it stands for as inspiration.

The winner, Aldous, is a 3rd year graphic designer at Manchester Metropolitan University who used archive images of the event, inspiration from musicians set to take the stage and the idyllic landscapes of the location to capture the spirit of Dimensions Festival. The artwork features over 100 layers and makes for a beautiful, unique and creative billboard – definitely one of our all time favourites.
