Stephen Gill at The Photographers’ Gallery
British experimental, conceptual and documentary photographer, Stephen Gill is a long-term friend of ours. Over the years we’ve helped to get his wonderful photography up, onto the streets of London. We were excited to find out that his latest body of work is currently being showcased at The Photographers’ Gallery – it includes 30 unique Buried works from his collection.
Each photograph was taken in London’s Hackney Wick and later buried there. Not knowing what an image would look like once it was dug up, introduced an element of chance and surprise. “This feeling of letting go and collaborating with place, allowing it to work in putting the finishing touches to a picture, felt fair. Maybe the spirit of the place can also make its mark.” – Stephen Gill
